The rumor has been going around for over a year.

Nintendo would prepare a Switch Pro - a complete overhaul of the Switch, from the processor to the screen - which would allow it to come back a little in the race with its rivals in terms of performance.

According to Bloomberg, the announcement of the said console is imminent.

The machine could be unveiled to us during the month of June and would be released in September / October.

According to Bloomberg, the Switch Pro would keep the format of its ancestor but would benefit from notable improvements in its technical sheet.

The main change would concern the display, which would switch to 4K when the console is placed in its dock, and which would be on a nice 7 ″ OLED screen.

A new Tegra processor would also be on the program, with a little more power.

However, we should not expect a revolution but rather an evolution.

More power

The new Switch Pro would position itself as a premium variant of the Switch, aimed primarily at gamers who use the Switch as their primary console. The increase in power doesn't necessarily mean that more third-party publishers will join Nintendo in its fight, either.

are unfortunately still at risk of missing subscribers. Viewing older games in 4K should also require software updates for each title separately.

The stakes are nonetheless major for Nintendo with the shortage of electronic components that has lasted for months.

The Japanese giant, however, would have deliberately chosen to avoid confrontation with other manufacturers by opting for a configuration different from its rivals.

"The production lines are better prepared for the potential upheaval of components and the parts used by Nintendo are subject to less competition than those of the more powerful consoles of its rivals" explains Bloomberg.

The presentation of the Switch Pro could take place during E3.

Nintendo is expected to hold a virtual conference at the event on June 12.
