The

hamburger

, a minced meat fillet served between two buns, is one of the most popular dishes in the world.

Its origin is disputed by two countries: Germany (specifically, the city of Hamburg, from which it takes its name) and the United States (where it really comes from, at least in its current form).

It landed in Spain more than 50 years ago and, since then, it continues to conquer palates of all ages.

On

May 28, International Hamburger Day is celebrated

, an iconic dish of North American gastronomy and culinary globalization.

To celebrate the anniversary, nothing better than going to one of the best hamburger restaurants in Madrid.

Alfredo's Barbecue

This little corner of the US in Madrid opened its doors in 1981 thanks to the incomparable Alfred Gradus, founder of the dining rooms that bear his name and sadly passed away last year. Luckily, their legacy remains intact - their grilled burgers continue to be among the best in town. Of beef, they can be ordered in four sizes (from 160 to 500 grams). The classic one is served with barbecue sauce, but they are also prepared with different dressings:

BLT

(with bacon, lettuce and tomato),

Chili

(with chili con carne),

Kefta

(with Moroccan spices and piquillo salad) ... They are served with chips.

Addresses:

Juan Hurtado de Mendoza, 11; Conde de Aranda, 4 and Lagasca, 5.

Juancho's BBQ

Juan de la Rica, passionate about meat and in love with barbecues, is the architect of Juancho's BBQ, an apparent simplicity that reached everyone's mouth (pun intended) in 2019, when one of his burgers won the Spanish Hamburger Championship (more than a hundred participants showed up).

It was the

Baconjuancheeseburger

: 250 grams of Extremadura beef, melted cheddar and Iberian bacon marinated in cubata.

This May 28, to celebrate its international day, it presents a secret burger, an ode to the product with high-quality ingredients, only suitable for carnivores, lovers of flavor, with a twist on universal elements.

It will be discovered this Friday, on the social networks of the restaurant, which, in addition, is in the process of expansion (in the coming months it plans to open several more spaces, in the San Antón Market and in Pozuelo de Alarcón).
