Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced on Tuesday that the digital giant has been testing “the next generation of Windows” for a few months.

During his speech during the traditional Build conference of the company, the leader referred to "one of the most important Windows updates of the decade," reports

The Verge

.

However, he did not give details on the nature of the novelties.

Satya Nadella said he was "incredibly excited" about the upcoming changes, which he said he personally oversaw.

The aim of the update is to "open up access to better economic opportunities for creators and developers".

The CEO has promised to communicate more details soon, while providing a brief description of the future version of Windows.

An opening of the app store?

It will be "the most recent, innovative and open platform for the development and distribution of monetized apps," said the leader.

The improvements made to the next version of Microsoft's operating system could concern the app store in particular.

Programmers would eventually be able to offer apps of a more varied nature and origin.

There was even a rumor of authorization in the app store of commercial platforms created by third-party companies.

The user interface would also be one of the heavily revisited elements in the major Windows update.

The engineers would have chosen "Sun Valley" as the code name for this new presentation.

The first precise information on the changes to be expected should arrive in the coming weeks.
