A man in his thirties who was handed over to trial for injuring a protesting dog by shooting a BB gun at a dog was sentenced to probation.

Daejeon District Court Criminal 2 alone (Judge Sang-soo Choi) announced today (27th) that 35-year-old A, who was charged with injuries and violations of the Animal Protection Act, was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years probation.

On May 31, 2020, Mr. A and his younger brother B were riding a four-wheeled motorcycle, passing the road in front of the victim's house in Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do.

At that time, when victim C's dog barked, Mr. B fired two BB shots at the dog.

When Mr. C, who saw this, protested, "Why should I just pass by and shoot a dog?", Mr. A got off the motorcycle and grabbed Mr. C's fat and shaken it, causing two weeks of injuries.

Afterwards, it was investigated that Mr. A and Mr. B had been abused by driving motorcycles and firing dozens of BB shots at Mr. C's dog.

Dogs struck by bullets are known to have inflamed areas near the pelvis.

The judges pointed out that "I committed abusive behavior by firing BB bombs at dogs out of resentment," and said, "I committed the crime without self-sufficiency even though the case was not good and there were many previous punishments."

However, he revealed the reason for the sentence, saying, "We admitted to the crime lately, and considered the fact that there was no history of being punished for violent crime."

The judge also ordered Mr. A to take 40 hours of violence treatment lectures and probation.
