<Anchor> A

daily worker in his 30s who was working on the safety of a reservoir facility was drowned and died. While trying to save a drowned colleague, he himself fell into the water, but it was confirmed that there was no proper safety equipment at the slippery and dangerous site.

Reporter Ha Jeong-yeon on the report.

<Reporter> It

is a reservoir in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.

When the water from the upper reservoir descends on a slope with a width of 10m and a length of 55m, it is a structure that gathers into the lower water purification pond.

Five employees of the company carried out the work to diagnose the safety of the reservoir here.

However, one man who was working at the bottom of the slope slipped and fell into the water purification pond.

Then, the mother in her thirties, who was right next to him, reached out for rescue, and she slipped and fell into the water.

This is the scene of the accident.

The slope is severe and the water is flowing down, so it looks quite slippery, but the water is only 4m deep.

[Choi Chang-heon/Gicheon 3-ri Senior Citizen: Moss is trapped when water flows over. It's quite slippery, there it is. It's a place where no one can enter.] When the

two fell into the water purification plant, the rest of the staff came to the rescue and saved the first one, but failed to rescue Mr. Lee.

When the fire department searched for and found Lee, he was already dead.

There were no minimum safety tools for rescue, such as life jackets or tubes at the site.

It is worth pointing out that the safety measures are insufficient even when working in a deep water purification plant.

The police call business officials to inquire about the details of the accident and whether to comply with safety rules.
