taxi driver offered a prostitution proposal to a female passenger who was carrying it in the middle of the night, but he informed us that there is no way to punish the current law.

Reporter Ha Jeong-yeon reports.

In July of last year, A, a woman in her twenties headed home after work.

It is said that the man in the car called himself urgently as if he needed help.

[Mr. A/Suggested person: I thought that I needed an umbrella now because they called me in the car, so I approached... .] When I

approached, the man suggested that I go to the motel with him because he would give him 200,000 won.

[Mr. A / reporter: There is some kind of motel in front of here, so I will give you 200,000 won with me, so let's go in and sleep together. .]

I reported to the police, but the grounds for punishment were not good.

The police, who were struggling, ended the case by imposing a penalty of 100,000 won on charges of creating a feeling of fear by applying the misdemeanor punishment law to the man.

From the standpoint of the investigative agency, it is inevitable to think about which law to apply.

In the case of sexual harassment, there are only penalties for sexual harassment in the workplace, and in the case of insults, it is possible to apply only when there are many others.

[Lee Hyun-seo/Hwawoo Public Interest Foundation Attorney: It is clearly a legislative blank that no laws can deter this behavior. You may

be able

to examine it by adding individual provisions.]

What can be applied is a dislike of mediation and solicitation under the Prostitution Punishment Act, which has punished owners of prostitution establishments.

However, there are few cases in which prosecutions have been made for remarks made personally and even criminal trials.

Since there is no precedent, the police are also insignificantly terminating the investigation, but it is a realistic measure to make the end of sexual harassment perceived as a crime by strictly applying even the existing law until a new law is in place to be judged by the court.
