▲ Candlelight walk to urge direct connection to GTX-D Gangnam held on the 15th

Although the government is considering extending the so-called'Gimbu Line (Gimpo-Bucheon)' controversial metropolitan express railway (GTX)-D line in Yeouido and Yongsan in Seoul, the backlash from the citizens of Gimpo has not subsided.

According to the Gimpo Geomdan Citizens' Transportation Solidarity today (17th), this civic group's internet bulletin board rebelled against the news that the government announced yesterday was considering a plan to extend the GTX-D route to Yeouido and Yongsan by connecting the GTX-D route to the B route. There are only comments calling for direct connection of the route to Gangnam.

'(GTX) Does it make sense to share the line by directly connecting line D to line B? (Line D via Gangnam) should go directly to Hanam','Aren't you trying to use Gimpo and Geomdan for rationalization of the GTX-B line, which is less viable?','GTX-B's direct connection to Yeouido is just I think it's a worse route than Kim Bu-seon. (Seoul Subway) The extension of Gimpo Line 5 and 9 is also restricted.'

Mayor Jung Ha-young of Gimpo also posted a post on the Social Network Service (SNS) yesterday titled'The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport is strongly warned in the name of a citizen' and opposes the plan.

He said, "There are reports that (the government) is promoting plans to extend some of the GTX-D trains to Yeouido or Yongsan," he said. "If this report is correct, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has confirmed the need for a full review of the public hearing plan (Buseon Kim). "That's it," he criticized the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

In addition, he urged a direct connection to Gangnam, Seoul, saying, "If you make fun of the people again while spilling the Yeouido or Yongsan extension plan, you will face a situation that cannot be handled."

Earlier, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced yesterday that it is considering a plan to directly connect the GTX-D route to Yeouido or Yongsan Station by sharing the GTX-B route from Incheon Songdo to Maseok in Namyangju.

If this plan is realized, it will be possible to travel from Gimpo or Geomdan to Yeouido or Yongsan without a transfer by using the GTX-D train.

An official from the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said, "The issue of direct connection is a matter that needs to be discussed with the private-invested business of the GTX-B route. "There is."

According to the 4th National Rail Network Construction Plan and the 4th Wide Area Transportation Implementation Plan announced by the Korea Transport Institute on the 22nd of last month, the GTX-D route is supposed to connect only the Gimpo Janggi-Bucheon Sports Complex.

This is a sharp reduction from the route plans of Gyeonggi-do and Incheon City, where the GTX-D route was hoped to be directly connected to Gangnam and Hanam in Seoul, and local residents of the western region are opposing the route by calling it'Kimbu-seon'.
