A high-tech DIY specialist posted a video on YouTube on May 2 showing how to turn Tetris on Game Boy into a network game.

The device makes it possible to play with several people and will bring back fond memories to those nostalgic for the game of 1989.

It was indeed already possible at the time to play the famous Nintendo video game for two.

This required connecting the two consoles with the Game Link cable.

Thanks to the tinkering of the videographer Stacksmashing, it is now possible to face opponents from a distance.

Its device is compatible with the Game Boy Color, the Game Boy Pocket and the Game Boy Advance, reports

Being able to find friends in the midst of a pandemic

In its video, Stacksmashing explains the different stages of manufacturing a box connecting the cult console to the Internet.

To achieve his ends, he closely studied a Game Link to understand how it works.

After this reverse engineering, Stacksmashing used a USB adapter as a basic part of its case.

He then created a software stack to which he left free access and thanks to which data exchanges between players can take place without a physical connection.

The American explains that he wanted to manufacture such a device to overcome the impossibility of finding his gamer friends physically with the Covid-19 crisis.

He also launched a channel on Discord specifically designed to find Tetris partners around the world.
