Arrested for abusing a two-year-old adopted child, the police told the police that the child had been beaten.

The Women and Youth Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency urgently arrested A, a man in his 30s, at around 0:9 a.m. today (9th) on charges of serious injury under the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.

Mr. A is accused of abuse of a 2-year-old adopted child B, who was taken to the hospital after falling unconscious at his house in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do at around 6 pm yesterday.

Ms. B was moved to a hospital near her house, but was transferred to a university hospital in Incheon, as the condition was deemed serious.

Medical staff reported that Ms. B had a cerebral hemorrhage and bruises were found all over her face and body.

The police are conducting an investigation by urgently arresting Mr. A, the adoptive wife who brought Ms. B to the hospital.

Mr. A was known to have stated in the police yesterday morning that the child "continued to murmur and hit a few with his hand, and then the child fell asleep, but after a few hours, he could not wake up and took him to the hospital."

It was found that Mr. A and Mrs. A adopted Ms. B through an adoption agency in August of last year.

Ms. B is said to have undergone brain surgery and is recovering, but has not yet found consciousness.

The police said that there have been no reports of abuse since Ms. B was adopted so far, but the investigation is open to the possibility that Ms. A had previously abused Ms. B.

A police official said, "We cannot provide details because we are investigating, but we plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A after focusing on investigating whether there has been abusive activity."
