Two men were seriously injured on Friday in the parking lot of a shopping center in Mérignac after being hit by a car.

The motive for this act remains unclear, while three suspects have been arrested.

Two men were seriously injured on Friday in the parking lot of a shopping center in Mérignac after being struck by a car in a possible settlement of accounts with still unclear reasons.

The Bordeaux prosecutor's office also announced on Saturday the arrest of three suspects.

Friday morning around 8:45 am, the two victims, aged 35 and 58, both employees of a cleaning company, were violently mown by a Ford Fiesta which "rushed at them", in this parking lot located in front of a sign of Decathlon, the prosecution told AFP.

One of the victims was then "badly beaten" by the driver of the Ford Fiesta.

"Very serious injuries" for the two victims

As shown in surveillance video sent to AFP, these two employees were talking next to a Clio parked in this parking lot when the Ford Fiesta with two people on board arrived at them at high speed like a ram car. With the violence of the shock, the Clio was thrown a little further. In the video, one of the men can be seen, caught between the Ford Fiesta and a tree, pulling himself free and then the driver getting out of the car and punching and kicking him. Witnesses to the scene intervened to put an end to the violence. According to the first elements of the investigation, one of the attackers shouted: "You will never do that to my mother again", reported the prosecution which opened an investigation for "attempted assassinations".

Transported to the Bordeaux University Hospital, the two victims did not have their vital prognosis engaged but present "very serious injuries".

According to details provided by the prosecution, the 35-year-old victim suffers from a head trauma and broken legs.

The other victim, aged 58, is "more seriously injured".

Three suspects arrested

The Departmental Security, seized by the prosecution, "quickly succeeded in establishing that the vehicle had been hired the same morning by a woman and her son. However, a few days earlier, this woman had filed a complaint for violence against one of the victims ", explained the prosecution, without further details on the nature of this violence.

This woman was arrested in Gironde and placed in police custody just like the two alleged attackers, the latter's son and her alleged accomplice, who had fled.

The son was finally located and arrested Friday evening in the Paris region and the other man at the Paris-Montparnasse station.

"The hearings in progress will help determine the motive for this attack," the prosecutor of the Republic of Bordeaux Frederique Porterie told AFP.
