The Nintendo Switch has outpaced the Game Boy Advance in the number of copies sold, according to Nintendo's most recent quarterly figures.

84.6 million Switch consoles have now been sold.

The popular Game Boy Advance handheld sold some 81.5 million units between 2001 and 2010.

The Nintendo Switch was shipped about 4.7 million times in the past quarter.

In the same quarter last year, the game console was sold 2.5 million times.

Since its appearance in early 2017, the Switch has been a great success for Nintendo.

The Switch has already surpassed Nintendo game consoles in number of sales, such as the GameCube (21.7 million), Nintendo 64 (32.9 million) and the Nintendo DS (154 million).

Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

remains the best-selling game on Nintendo Switch.

The total number of copies sold amounts to 35.5 million units, of which 2 million in the past three months.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

is in second place with 32.6 million copies sold (1.4 million sold in the last quarter). This is followed by

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

(sold 23.8 million),

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

(sold 22.3 million), and

Pokémon Sword / Shield

(sold 21.1 million).
