Instagram has decided to deploy a new feature: the automatic captioning of Stories and Reels.

The social network thus shows its desire to offer better access to its services to deaf and hard of hearing people, reports

.

Concretely, Instagram users will be able to access this option by going to the sticker tab, which allows in particular to display the lyrics of a song.

It will then be possible to modify the text if the tool ever makes an error in the transcription.

Now you can add a captions sticker in Stories (coming soon to Reels) that automatically turns what you say into text.

We're starting in a handful of countries and hope to expand soon.

In addition to the inclusion of people with disabilities, this new feature will also prove to be very practical for users who watch content without sound, in transport for example.

This tool will first be deployed in English-speaking countries before being extended to other countries in the coming months.

In recent years, other devices have already been launched on Instagram to help people with visual impairments to enjoy the content published on the platform.

Joining a more inclusive trend is also a way of competing with its competitors, like TikTok, which also announced automatic captioning a few weeks ago.
