Sony will bring the Discord chat service to its PlayStation game consoles next year.
The two companies have entered into a partnership for this, Sony boss Jim Ryan writes in a blog on Monday.
Discord is a popular chat app among gamers with more than 140 million monthly users worldwide.
In closed groups they can chat and call with each other, for example to communicate better while playing an online game.
During streaming sessions, users can also talk to each other.
Sony claims to have invested in Discord.
“Together our teams are hard at work connecting Discord to your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network,” said Ryan.
Exactly what that will look like is not entirely clear yet.
Sony says it will announce more details in the coming months.
