The second in a long series (we hope).

French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who joined the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday, shared on his Twitter account this Wednesday a photo of Paris taken from space.

“I had the right to a vertical passage of Paris, in perfect weather… I couldn't miss that!

Thomas Pesquet tweeted.

And this is not to displease the city of Paris, which reacted to the photograph by responding with an emoji.

I was entitled to a vertical passage of Paris, in perfect weather… I couldn't miss that!

Thank you @Astro_Soichi, the photo master on board the @Space_Station, who had already configured the devices 👌 #MissionAlpha pic.twitter.com/NZAb3rDtuX

A six-month mission

Tuesday, the French astronaut opened the ball by publishing a photograph of Normandy, where he is from.

The station's trajectory always goes from west to east: a chance for my native Normandy, under the sun as always 😎 (whatever the haters may say 😉).

It kicks off the photos from orbit!

On Friday, a SpaceX rocket took off in Florida with four astronauts on board, including Frenchman Thomas Pesquet, bound for the International Space Station, for a six-month mission. During its six-month mission, the team will be responsible for carrying out around 100 scientific experiments. Among the favorites, according to Thomas Pesquet, the examination of the effects of weightlessness on brain organoids (mini-brains created in the laboratory).

Scientists hope this research can help space agencies prepare for missions that will expose teams to the hardships of space for long periods of time, and even help fight brain disease on Earth.

Another important part of the mission was to upgrade the station's solar power system by installing new compact panels that roll out like a huge yoga mat.
