The expansion of the concept of family as the government refers to means that we are actually living like a family now, but legally, we should eliminate discrimination or restrictions on the grounds that we are not family members.

However, this is not immediately possible, and there is still a long way to go because it is a matter that requires revision of the law.

This is reporter Kim Yong-tae.

Sayuri, a broadcaster, gave birth alone without getting married, and the late mother of Goo Hara abandoned her parenting obligations, but because she was a real mother, she was subject to miscarriage.

These recent things have led me to rethink the traditional concept of family.

The government is even considering removing the provisions of the Civil Law that regulate the scope of family members such as spouses, lineal blood relatives, and siblings.

There are more than 30% of single-person households, but if the existing family framework is maintained, the function of caring and support weakens, so the concept of the family should be expanded to include unmarried domestic partners.

This can also fix any discrimination or restrictions that you have received because you are not a legal family member.

In the medium to long term, you may also have the right to inherit an inheritance from your partner or to sign consent for surgery.

In France, an inheritance is possible even between unmarried domestic partners by signing a contract called'Pax'.

Along with the reaction to this government plan that it reflected the changes of the times, there was also a cautious opinion about side effects such as weakening the concept of the family and the possibility of property disputes.

[Woman in her 60s: No marriage registration, no wedding ceremony I didn't give birth, what is it, neither man nor family.] The

government proposal that passed the State Council today (27th) is a big direction until 2025.

It is a complex matter that must go through the revision of the law on who to recognize as a family and how far to grant rights and obligations.

As there is a lot of time left, efforts to create a social consensus should be preceded.
