A 30-year-old who smuggled a large amount of drugs disguised as salt from the United States has been arrested by the prosecution.



The Busan District Prosecutors' Office of Violent Crimes (Director Kim Yeon-sil) announced today (27th) that the 39-year-old A was arrested for violating the Psychotropic Drug Management Act.



Mr. A was accused of smuggling 11.8 kg of methamphetamine from the United States using international express airmail three times from December 24, 2020 to March 30, 2020.

They were caught smuggling 4.8kg in the first, 4kg in the second, and 3kg in the last, each disguised as salt.



After confirming the smuggling in real time with the customs offices of Busan-Incheon headquarters and the US Drug Administration (DEA), the prosecution immediately seized methamphetamine into the country.

An official at the prosecution said, "We cannot confirm specific crimes such as smuggling."




One dose of methamphetamine was about 0.03g, and the 11.8kg smuggled by Mr. A was the amount that 560,000 people could administer at the same time. The market price is known to be worth 55.9 billion won.



The prosecution explained, "The methamphetamine smuggled by Mr. A accounts for 33.7% of the amount of methamphetamine smuggled in Korea in 2020."



He added, "The passage of narcotics inflow is diversifying recently, such as the smuggling of narcotics from the United States and Latin America, as well as from China and Southeast Asia, which are traditional methamphetamine smuggling routes. We will block the inflow of narcotics through cooperation with related organizations. It.
