Audio messages (or voice memos) are all the rage on social networks and messaging apps.

This more lively and direct mode of communication is now widely used on Twitter, WhatsApp, Messenger or Clubhouse.

But the listening time - and the length of the messages - can sometimes be overwhelming.

To overcome this problem, WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature to speed up the reading of these voice notes, reports

A slowdown option soon?

In the latest beta version of the application (2.21.9.4), several users noticed the appearance of a button to the right of the voicemail scroll bar.

By clicking on it, they can then choose for listening to a normal speed (1x), a 50% faster speed (1.5x) or a 100% faster speed (2x).

This thus makes it possible to halve the listening time of each voice message.

notes that a feature allowing to slow down reading would also be useful, in cases where the vocal notes are difficult to hear or are very dense.

Finally, many users are impatiently waiting for a transcription function, like the one already offered on the iPhone.
