The police launched an investigation into Jung In-yang's 16-month-old grandmother who died after being abused by her adoptive parents.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Women and Youth Investigation Unit said that since last January, Jung In-yang's grandmother, A, was being investigated on charges of aiding child abuse and aiding murder.

Earlier, Lim Hyun-taek, the former chairman of the Korea Pediatrics and Youth Division, filed a complaint with the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office on charges of assisting with murder.

Mr. A was aware of the abuse of his adoptive parents, and that he knew in advance that there was a high possibility of dying from serious damage.

The police, who took over the case from the prosecution, are continuing the investigation after completing the investigation of the accuser last month.
