The government decided to reconsider the vaccination and causal relationship by supplementing the data on the case of a female nursing assistant in her 40s who reported adverse reactions such as quadriplegia after receiving AstraZeneca (AZ)'s Corona 19 vaccine.

At a regular briefing today (26th), Kim Joong-gon, head of the Vaccination Damage Investigation Division of the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, said, "For one case of suspicion of severe disseminated encephalomyelitis, the conclusion was withheld at this meeting and additional clinical and laboratory results were supplemented for reconsideration. I decided to do it."

"There are areas where additional tests to be performed are left, and there are data that need to be confirmed in order to clarify the diagnosis name," said Kim. "When the damage investigation team deliberated, the data were not ready." I explained the background behind the reconsideration.

"After supplementing the data to clarify the diagnosis name a little more, there was an opinion that evaluating the causality between the vaccination and diagnosis was correct in the procedure and order when it was found that the presumed diagnosis is likely to be acute disseminated encephalomyelitis." Said.

The damage investigation team held the 9th meeting on the 23rd and deliberated on a total of 22 adverse reactions after vaccination.

According to the quarantine authorities, this nursing assistant in her 40s works at a hospital in Gyeonggi-do, and was diagnosed with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, an immune response-related disease, after receiving AstraZeneca vaccine on the 12th of last month.

It is known that this nursing assistant suffered from a headache for a week immediately after vaccination, and on the 24th of last month, he had symptoms of'binocular double vision' that overlapped objects, and on the 31st of last month, even after being admitted to the hospital, he had a quadriplegia.
