The victims of comfort women were judged'dismissed' in the second lawsuit for damages filed against Japan in a domestic court.

The 15th Division of the Civil Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court (Deputy Judge Min Sung-cheol) dismissed a lawsuit for damages against Japan by 20 victims and bereaved families, such as Gwak Ye-nam, Kim Bok-dong, and Lee Yong-soo, on the morning of the 21st.

Dismissal is a decision made without hearing the main case if you do not meet the legal requirements.

The court ruled in this way, seeing that the Japanese government should apply the “state exemption”.

State immunity means the exemption of one sovereign state from the jurisdiction of another country.

This ruling is a different conclusion from what the victims won in the first lawsuit filed in January of this year.

Earlier, Section 34 of the Civil Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Jeong-Gon Kim) ruled a lawsuit filed by 12 victims of comfort women, including the late grandmother Bae Chun-hee, with the same purpose.

The court of the first lawsuit admitted the jurisdiction of the jurisdiction, saying, "The state immunity cannot be applied to illegal activities in Japan."
