An amendment to the law was initiated by the National Assembly to block the business around schools of experience rooms that deal with dolls modeled after a woman's body, so-called'real doll'.

The Power of the People Rep. Kim Yong-pan, representatively proposed yesterday (19th) the'Amendment of the Act on the Protection of the Educational Environment', which contains restrictions on the operation of real-doll experience rooms within 200m of educational facilities such as kindergartens and elementary schools.

The Real Doll Experience Room, a new business type that has appeared for a year or two, has been pointed out as a problem because it is classified as a free business that does not require a separate permission from the local government, and can be opened in an educational environment protection area within 200 meters from the school boundary.

This is because business registration is possible by simply reporting it to the tax office as an adult goods store.

In fact, a real-doll experience room recently opened in Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, in the academy districts around kindergartens and elementary schools.

The grounds for the Yongin Office of Education's sanctions were the notification from the Minister of Gender Equality and Family, classifying the Real Doll Experience Room as a business prohibited from entering and hiring youth.

For this reason, it was pointed out that it was necessary to take fundamental measures to restrict the operation of real doll experience rooms in the educational environment by law, not by the Minister of Gender Equality and Family.

The amendments submitted this time contain standards based on actual business activities, regardless of whether or not there are authorizations, permits, registrations, reports, etc.

Specifically, new law provisions were included, such as △depicting human form, △installing facilities such as closed rooms or enclosed spaces, and △installing separate facilities such as toilets and bathtubs.

The amendment goes into effect six months after passing the plenary session and promulgating it.

Rep. Kim Yong-pan emphasized, "As soon as this amendment passes, we must prevent not only real doll businesses but also new types of youth-hazardous businesses from entering the surroundings of our child's educational environment."
