The husband, who killed his wife by smashing the car in her divorce suit at a speed of more than 100 km/h, was sentenced to severe punishment.

Today (14th), the 1st Criminal Division of Haenam Branch of the Gwangju District Court (Judge Hyun-ho Cho) sentenced A, a 52-year-old man, who was charged with murder and traffic obstruction, to 20 years in prison.

On May 19, last year, Mr. A is accused of killing Mr. B by hitting his wife B's small car with an SUV that he drove on a one-way lane of Masan-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.

At that time, Mr. A speeded up to 121km/h on the road where there was a 50km/h speed limit, and as a result, the Sonata driver and passenger who followed Mr. B's vehicle were injured for 12 weeks.

Earlier, Mr. A regularly assaulted Mr. B for reasons such as'not serving food' or'refusing to sleep' and threatened with a weapon, and received an order from the court to prohibit access to Mr. B.

During the trial, Mr. A admitted to the assault and threats against Mr. B, but denied the murder charges.

Mr. A argued, "I accidentally found Mr. B's car on the way home, and he just stopped to talk for a while. If I blocked (Mr. B's) car, Mr. B of course knew that he would avoid it." .

However, based on the relationship between Mr. A and Mr. B, who were being sued for divorce, and the speeding situation on a narrow straight road, the court applied an unwritten and deliberate murder crime to Mr. A.

The judges judged that "combining the defendant's steering wheel angle and the speed at the time, it seems that the defendant could have known that a vehicle crash could lead to the death of the victim."

He explained the reason for the sentence, saying, "Even though the victims were killed and other unrelated victims occurred as a result of the second conflict, they were simply'knowing how to avoid'."
