Twelve people were arrested last week by the national BRI in Paris in a luxury apartment in the 16th arrondissement.

They had created or were working in an underground gambling den primarily intended for poker players.

A luxury apartment located on the prestigious avenue Foch in Paris housed a high-end underground gambling den: twelve people including six organizers were arrested last week by the central racing and games service.

A luxury apartment

What is striking in this affair is above all the exceptional place chosen by the criminals.

Located avenue Foch, in the wealthy 16th arrondissement of Paris, "it was a four-storey apartment with an interior lift, play areas, restaurants, bedrooms ...", Commissioner Stéphane described to AFP on Tuesday. Piallat, boss of the investigating service.

Young women dispensed, in particular, massages to clients, who were more of a poker enthusiast.

The place, opened "in March, operated day and night", continues the commissioner.

Six organizers and six employees

The investigation started last fall with the discovery of an illegal gambling den in Champigny-sur-Marne in Val-de-Marne.

But quickly, the criminals think bigger and rent this luxury apartment on avenue Foch.

And last week, the national BRI intervened to proceed to twelve arrests.

Six people, mainly from Val-de-Marne, admitted to being the organizers and were brought to justice.

The other six were employees (croupiers, hostesses, etc.).

The investigation was conducted under rogatory commission from the Créteil court.
