The life expectancy of people with alcoholism is on average 28 shorter than that of other population groups, writes the British tabloid Daily Express, which drew attention to the scientific work of researchers from the Swedish Karolinska Institute.
As the newspaper writes, scientists have studied mortality in Denmark, Finland and Sweden for 20 years, after which they concluded that "mortality from all types of ailments was noticeably higher in the drinking group."
It is emphasized that the study looked specifically at people with a diagnosed alcohol use disorder.
