A police officer investigating allegations of land speculation by employees of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) applied for an arrest warrant for speculation using undisclosed internal information for an LH employee who worked in the core department of the Gwangmyeong Siheung New Town project.

This is the first case of a direct relationship between land purchase and business among alleged parties of LH speculation.

On the afternoon of the 2nd, the Special Investigation Unit for real estate speculators at the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency announced today (5th) that it has applied for an arrest warrant for two people, including A, an incumbent LH employee, on charges of using secrets for business purposes.

Mr. A is the first among former and current employees to apply for an arrest warrant since the police began investigating allegations of land dumping by LH employees.

Mr. A has not been exposed to the surface because he has not been included in the subject of charges or investigation requests by civic groups, but he has purchased a number of land in the third new city and is considered as a more important person than the so-called'lecturer' who was pointed out as the body of this speculation suspicion. It is.

It was between September 2017 and 2020 that 15 people, including'Lecturer' Kang Mo, who were suspicious of speculation by the Participation Solidarity and attorneys' meeting for democratic society (Minbyun) on the 2nd of last month, purchased the land of the Gwangmyeong Siheung New City.

They bought 14 lots with 28 people, including their acquaintances, mainly distributed in the outskirts of the 3rd new town, including Okgil-dong in Gwangmyeong, Guarim-dong in Siheung, and Mujinae-dong.

On the other hand, Mr. A and his acquaintances intensively bought 22 parcels from March 2017 to December 2018 with 36 people before Kang and others.

The land purchased was concentrated in Noonsa-dong, Gwangmyeong, and it is known that these are the core lands located in the center of the 3rd new town.

At an earlier time than Mr. Kang, etc., more land was purchased closer to the development site.

In particular, the police believe that Mr. A is one of the'roots' of this incident, which caused land speculation by directly utilizing the undisclosed information inside and passing it to the surroundings.

In early 2017, Mr. A worked in the 3rd new city development department, and it is said that he was involved in overall work, such as reviewing the lifting of restrictions on development of the expected new city area or deciding when to announce it.

A bought the land in the name of a friend, such as a family member and a friend, instead of his name. There is.

In addition, the police also confirmed the circumstances in which Mr. A handed information on the development of the Gwangmyeong Siheung New City to a person concerned with the LH Jeonbuk Headquarters and doctors in the Jeonbuk region, allegedly speculating on the 3rd new city expedition.

It was confirmed that some former and current LH employees, who were suspicious of speculation by Minbyun, also received development information from Mr. A.

An investigation is underway as to whether Mr. A has also given development information to Mr. Kang and others.

Mr. A's suspicion of speculation was revealed in the process of thoroughly analyzing the details of land transactions made in the 3rd new town at the same time as the data obtained through seizure and search during the investigation of Mr. Kang and others.

Before Kang purchased the land, the police, who confirmed that the Jeollabuk-do had largely purchased the planned site of the Gwangmyeong Siheung new city, continued the investigation by confirming the existence of Mr. A while analyzing the links between them.

A police official said, "Unlike the existing investigation targets, in the case of Mr. A, since the relationship with the work is clearly proven, tracking the flow of information will likely affect other investigations." "We will also accelerate the investigation of our employees."
