A man in his 40s who ran away after crashing into a tollgate structure on the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway in Incheon attended the police 13 hours after the accident.
Incheon's Nonhyeon Police Department announced today (1st) that A in his 40s was arrested on charges of non-action after an accident under the Road Traffic Act.
Mr. A is accused of driving a Mojave vehicle from the Gojan Toll Gate on the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway in Gojan-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon at around 9:40 pm yesterday, and crashing into the structure of the access road and running away.
At the time, there was no injury to people in the accident, but the access road was once controlled as the vehicle was left unattended.
Mr. A appeared at around 11 am today, about 13 hours after the accident, when the police confirmed his identity through a vehicle registration check and requested attendance.
He said to the police, "At the time of the accident, I was embarrassed and uncomfortable, so I left the scene."
The police will investigate the exact details of Mr. A's drunk driving and his escape route.
A police official said, "Mr. A is currently insisting that he has not been drunk driving," and said, "Before the accident, we will further investigate Mr. A's behavior."
