Jung Won-seop, the real protagonist of the movie'Gift in Room 7,' who was accused of murder and was imprisoned for 15 years, passed away on the 28th.

87 years old.

On the 29th, a former member of the Democratic Party of the Republic of Korea announced the news of Jung's obituary through Twitter, and said, "I had the pain of being unjustly deprived of the right to receive national compensation," he said.

On September 27, 1972, Jung was tried for sexual assault and murder of the 9-year-old daughter of a police box chief who was found dead on a rice field bank in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do.

At the time, the government defined this case as a challenge to the public authority and ordered the police to arrest the time limit.

The Chuncheon Police Department arrested Jeong, who was 36 years old, as a suspect one day before the arrest deadline. The following year, Jeong, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment and parole in December 1987.

However, in 2007, the Committee on Past Affairs for Truth and Reconciliation concluded that the case was fabricated with false confession received through torture and harassment, and recommended reconsideration.

Jung was finally convicted of acquittal after 39 years through a retrial in 2011, and filed a lawsuit for national compensation the following year. Jung's story was known to the world with the 2013 movie'The Gift of Room 7'.

Jeong filed a lawsuit for compensation for damages against police officers who compelled false confession in 2016, but the court said, "The state's obligations under the law of the past matters asserted by the plaintiff are abstract, so it is difficult to see that the state directly bears liability "And did not recognize the country's liability for compensation.

Mr. Jung's mourning was prepared at the funeral hall of the Forest of Peace in Yongin, and his death is today (30th) at 10:30 am.
