Pocheon city official who is accused of speculating on the planned site of a train station using internal information was arrested a while ago.

Along with this, the police initiated a forced investigation of the family of former aides of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security Jeon Jeon, who is suspected of real estate speculation.

Reporter Choi Sun-gil for the report.

<Reporter> The

court issued an arrest warrant for Park Mo, a Pocheon city official.

This is the first case of arrest since the government's joint special investigation headquarters was launched to investigate allegations of real estate speculation.

The Uijeongbu District Court explained the reason for the issuance of the warrant, saying there is a concern about destroying evidence against Park.

Park is accused of buying land and buildings near the planned train station using internal information in September last year.

[Mr. Park/Pocheon City Hall Public Official: (Don't you know and buy information about the development of subway history before the general public?)…

.] The

court has previously decided to confiscate and preserve the 4 billion won worth of land and buildings that Mr. Park bought.

--- In

order to confirm the charges of Mr. Park Mo, former aide's wife of the Minister of Public Administration and Security, Jeon Jeon-cheol, who is suspected of speculation in the new city, a seizure search was conducted in five locations, including the Gyeonggi Provincial Office and LH headquarters.

[Police investigator: (Did you secure some related data?)…

.]

Mr. Park is suspected of purchasing 1,550㎡ of land in Jangsang-dong, Ansan-si, in April 2019 using the information on the 3rd new city development.

Unlike investigations of politicians and public officials, which are gaining momentum, the judicial treatment of former and current LH employees is seldom speeding up.

It has been more than 10 days since the investigation was undertaken by summoning and investigating the key suspect, Mr. Kang Mo, but the judicial proceedings against former and current LH employees have not yet been carried out.

In order to confiscate speculative profits, it is necessary to apply the'Anti-Corruption Act', and some interpretations say that it is a more difficult situation than expected to prove whether information obtained in business secrets was used.
