There has been a report that a large amount of food waste is being discarded without permission in the civilian line area where people are scarce and surveillance is neglected.

It was confirmed that the garbage was buried secretly by mobilizing an excavator, and that amount is only about 20 tons.

This is Park Chan-beom reporter.

Food waste is scattered among the reed fields.

There are many varieties, from fruit skins to shellfish shells.

The smell of rotten fish vibrates, and flies infest the food.

This is a civilian access control area, and a large amount of unauthorized dumping of food waste was recently discovered by local residents.

[Kim Yong-won/ village resident (first reporter): I asked him down there.

I saw an excavator and a car running around 20 days ago.] The

civilian control line is accessible to landowners and residents who farm themselves, but the residents were preparing for farming in the spring and found a huge amount of food waste.

[Kwak Jong-seok/Village residents: In this way, if you look at everything from sausage to that meat, it's either a military unit or a school.]

The person caught by a resident report appears to be a company collecting food from schools, military units, and restaurants.

It has been confirmed that these people have mobilized excavators along the civilian line here to dig the ground and bury the food they brought several times over and over again.

Collectors are required to collect the food waste at a disposal fee and hand it over to the disposal company.

However, it seems that food was dumped on the civilian line where surveillance was neglected in order to save the money given to the processor.

It is estimated that at least 15 to 20 tons of food was discarded on their own land and in the surrounding state-owned land.

[Lee Ho-yeon/Yeoncheon County Office Resource Recycling Team Leader: I'm going to file a criminal accusation immediately.

Next, administrative measures will also be taken to collect all food waste in the soil.]

They explained to the reporters that food was brought to compost on

the soil to be

cultivated.
