Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, imprisoned in the Seoul detention center, complained of severe stomach pain from the evening of yesterday (19th).

As a result of the diagnosis by the detention center medical director, appendicitis, commonly called appendicitis, was suspected.

It has been rushed to a hospital designated by the Ministry of Justice, but it is known that it was decided to transfer to Samsung Seoul Hospital, saying that there is a concern that the appendix may burst and the foreign body may spread to the peritoneum.

The surgery was carried out at Samsung Seoul Hospital this morning for about an hour, and the results of the surgery were said to be good.

The Ministry of Justice said that if the physiology progresses normally after 2-3 weeks of observation, according to the opinions of the medical staff, it will consider taking the Vice Chairman Lee to the detention center to treat it.

Due to the sudden operation of Vice Chairman Lee, the ongoing trial and investigation schedule became somewhat disrupted.

Vice-Chairman Lee may not be able to attend the first trial on suspicion of an unfair merger of Samsung affiliates, which was scheduled to be held on the 25th.

Investigations of illegal administration of propofol by the prosecution and police, respectively, may need to be scheduled.

It is known that Vice Chairman Lee will face trials and other procedures depending on the state of health improvement.
