When a passerby stands to take a picture with a Chevrolet Bel Air manufactured in 1958, its owner, the young citizen Muhammad al-Sahlawi, goes out to welcome fans of this type of classic vehicle.

Al-Sahlawi told Emirates Today that he bought the car in 2009 in its condition that looked good and suitable for driving, and decided to ship it immediately to the Emirates, to begin after that the journey of this old vehicle with the renovation and return to the youthful performance on the roads.

Al-Sahlawi added, "After buying the car, the longing to receive it in Dubai began, and to experience driving it in the city, so I prepared the papers to register it as a classic vehicle, as per the rules in the country."

"Chevrolet Bel Air", after its arrival in the UAE, witnessed a renewal campaign and a return to the original body when it left the factory in 1958, when it was considered at the time the icon of the American auto giant "Chevrolet".

Al-Sahlawi confirms that his car received great attention from him after its arrival, and he was keen not to change its original features through the use of the basic color and standard interior details of the car, while renewing the leather seats with the same embroidery that it left the factory with more than 60 years ago.

The importance of "Chevrolet Bel Air" comes from being the third generation of this model, which appeared for the first time in 1950.

The «Chevrolet Bel Air» vehicle saw a multiplicity of its categories between open-top cars with two doors and four doors, and between the wide luxury sedans, coupe and four doors with a hard roof.

The manufacturer supported the "Bel Air" car with a powerful 4.0-liter eight-cylinder engine, because the chassis was excessive in length and width, and was made of heavy materials, with the presence of shiny metal on the sides and the back.

The owner of the car, Muhammad al-Sahlawi, explains that he has made simple improvements that do not affect the appearance of the "Bel Air" from the outside and the inside, such as installing an air conditioner and a modern recorder, but it is one of the old models that fit this classic vehicle.

Al-Sahlawi reveals that he bought the car at a price of about 50 thousand dirhams, and its price today is about 120 thousand dirhams, and it is his favorite car, because it is enjoyable to drive and move on the roads, and the passenger can rest on its comfortable seats, and enjoy its luxurious interior space.
