Chrome is arguably the most used web browser in the world, with a 63.69% market share.
However, the latter has a major flaw well known to users: it consumes a lot of resources on the PC and can even slow down the machine during its use.
A long-standing problem to which Google finally decides to provide a solution.
The Mountain View firm has indeed indicated that the new version of Chrome would be less resource intensive on the PC.
On its blog, Google promises that with Chrome M89, users will see "significant memory savings on Windows - up to 22% in the browser process, 8% in the rendering engine and 3% in the GPU" .
Even more, we have improved the responsiveness of the browser by up to 9%.
“We achieved this by using PartitionAlloc, our own advanced memory allocator, optimized for low allocation latency, space efficiency and security,” adds Google.
More frequent updates
In other words, Chrome is more efficient in its way of managing the memory usage of devices.
The improvements made to Chrome with respect to RAM consumption concern both the PC version and the version intended for Macs.
As for the Android Chrome app, Google has also made improvements to it.
At the same time, the Mountain View firm also announced that Chrome updates will be deployed more often.
They will indeed be deployed every four weeks, compared to every six weeks previously.
