A tip came from parents with young sons.

The four-year-old son had to undergo a corona test, but during the test, the cotton swab that went deep into the child's nose stopped breaking.

I went to the hospital emergency room because I couldn't respond right away at the scene, but the 10cm piece of cotton swab had already passed into the esophagus, and reporter Sohee Han covered the details.

Last month, a 4-year-old child was tested for Corona 19 at a screening laboratory in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.

However, the doctor who was collecting the sample suddenly began to panic.

[Child and Dad: I was embarrassed in front of me.

Oh, this is in it.

I'm going to go over and hold the kid so tightly and ask him to take it out with tweezers...

.]

The cotton swab that went deep into the nose was broken leaving only the handle part.

The laboratory did not have a tool to remove the swab.

[Child and dad: The door of the cabinet where the medical equipment was put in, the door was locked, but I couldn't find the key.] In the

end, the child's dad called an ambulance himself and went to the emergency room of the nearby hospital, but a 10cm long swab had already passed into the esophagus.

Fortunately, it was mixed in the child's stool three days later, but the parents had to fall into anxiety.

[Kim Kyu-yeon/Yonsei University Severance Hospital Pediatrics and Adolescents Specialist: When we swallow items longer than 5 cm, it is not easy to come out as stool.

There may be some damage to the airways due to the brokenness itself.]

When I protested at the public health center, these words came back.

[Health center doctor (recorded conversation with victim's parent): It is said that even if you eat a needle, you come out (to the side).

So we don’t really worry about it…

.]

[Health center officials: (nostrils) are two sides, even if one enters this side (no big problem))] The

public health center said that it was late to deal with it, but tried to remove the broken cotton swab, and that hospital medical expenses and compensation issues will be dealt with according to the procedure. Revealed.
