Corona infection has spread among foreign workers recently.

The risk of infection is high due to the large number of people living together, but undocumented migrant workers are reluctant to be tested for fear of being deported due to their identification.

Then, after death, there are cases where it is confirmed.

This is reporter Jeong Ban-seok.

<Reporter> At the

end of last month, a Nigerian worker was found dead in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do.

This is a residential area in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do, where a Nigerian worker was found dead alone.

Recently, when a test was conducted on the stories of bereaved family members who had symptoms of a cold, I was diagnosed with Corona 19.

After that, a full inspection was conducted on the factory staff, and more than 20 confirmed cases were found.

The Nigerian man who died was undocumented.

Because of this, it seems that he did not go to the hospital even though he had a fever.

[Neighboring Residents: It looks like you've been calling the house.

He said'I have a headache and fever'.

Oh, then it's Corona.]

However, most of them hesitate.

[Neka (pseudonym)/Unregistered immigrants: No visa and no insurance.

Many immigrants are very afraid to go to the test because they think they can be sent to Africa if they get positive (after being tested).]

Due to the coronavirus, the proportion of non-registered foreigners is approaching a record high of 20%.

As such, the number of quarantine blind spots is increasing, and many of them are in close, closed, and densely populated living environments.

[Migrant worker living in a green house: (Corona 19 infection) I keep worrying about it.

I can't go outside.

I can't just go to the mart and go to play.]

Dozens of people live together in these places.

[Pastor Dal-Sung Kim/CEO of Pocheon Migrant Workers Center: Unregistered workers are reluctant to go to hospitals or screening clinics because they do not have health insurance because they fear their identities will be exposed.] The

government recently started to strengthen management of poor living conditions, but group infection. It is pointed out that it is urgent to prepare fundamental measures to prevent this.
