The number of reported cases of suspected adverse reactions after the COVID-19 vaccination has increased by more than 800 a day.

According to the Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bang Daebon), as of today (5th) 0 o'clock, a total of 860 new reports of suspected adverse reactions were received, including 1 new death, 6 suspected anaphylaxis, and 1 convulsion. .

As a result, the cumulative number of suspicious reports of adverse reactions increased to 1,578 since the start of vaccination on the 26th of last month.

This is about 0.70% of the 225,000,853 cumulative inoculations as of today's 0 o'clock.

The number of deaths increased by one from the five revealed yesterday, resulting in a cumulative six.

The number of suspected cases of anaphylaxis, which is a severe systemic allergic reaction, increased to 13, with 6 additional cases.

In the case of suspected anaphylaxis, one case is'anaphylaxis shock', and the other 12 cases are'anaphylaxis-like reactions', where the actual serious reaction has not been confirmed, explained Bang Dae-bon.

Anaphylaxis-like reactions are cases where symptoms such as shortness of breath and urticaria appear within 2 hours after vaccination. The symptoms are similar to anaphylaxis, but they can be improved with symptomatic therapy, so it is not a problem, experts explain.

Bang Dae-bon is currently investigating serious cases such as death and anaphylaxis, and plans to hold an epidemiological investigation and damage investigation group to evaluate the causality between death and vaccination.

Of the 860 new adverse reaction reports, 856 were related to AstraZeneca vaccination and 4 were related to Pfizer vaccination.

There have been no reports of severe adverse reactions with the Pfizer vaccine to date.

If all cases of adverse reactions are reported as mild or severe, 1,558 out of the cumulative 1,578 cases are mild cases such as headache, fever, and nausea, which are common after vaccination.
