The Forest Service has decided to consider a plan to advance the arbor day to March.

Park Jong-ho, head of the Korea Forest Service, said at the government's Daejeon Hall today (3rd), "The period for planting trees is getting a little earlier due to global warming." Said.

Commissioner Park added, "We need a national consensus in consideration of the historical nature of Arbor Day."

Arbor Day was established in 1946 to commemorate the day when the king directly planted a field at Sunnongdan outside Dongdaemun on March 10, 24th year of King Seongjong of Joseon (April 5 in the solar calendar), and this year is the 76th.

There have been many opinions that April is not suitable for planting trees due to an increase in temperature, mainly by local governments, and that it should be moved to February to March.
