An incumbent police officer with a Ph.D. in criminology was arrested after witnessing a sexual assault by a man on the subway late at night.

On the 23rd of last month, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's subway police force announced today (3rd) that it is investigating a 30-year-old Mr. A for assaulting a woman sleeping next to the subway (forced molestation).

Mr. A is accused of touching the thigh of a woman sitting next to him with his right hand for 10 minutes, pretending to sleep, closing his eyes and lowering his head in the subway line 4 train at around 11:20 the night of the incident.

At the time of the crime, Sergeant Kang Hee-chang, from the Office of the National Police Agency's Office of Scientific Investigation, was sitting opposite Mr. A and the woman who had been victimized.

The slope of the river felt suspicious as Mr. A, who seemed to be nodded, clutching his belongings in his left hand.

This is because if you are a really sleeping person, your muscles are relaxed and you cannot give them that much strength.

Sergeant Kang, convinced of Mr. A's crime, first filmed this scene to leave evidence.

After seeing the victim, who woke up, trying to get off at Ssangmun Station on Line 4 alone, he even confirmed that A and the victim were not acquainted.

Sergeant Kang tried to arrest Mr. A as a current offender by revealing his police officer status on the spot, but Mr. A continued to pretend to sleep and did not respond.

Eventually, the slope of the river grabbed Mr. A, who did not want to rise by himself, and got off at the train station platform.

Mr. A denied the crime by reaching out to the platform until the subway policemen were dispatched and pretending to continue to sleep. It is unlikely that it will be difficult to prove the allegations as they have been standing as witnesses.

Sergeant Kang received his doctorate in criminology and was hired as the first special forensic investigation in 2013.

In 2018, the criminal was arrested in the'Seoul Station Explosive Installation Blackmail Case' and made two special campaigns in recognition of various contributions.

Sergeant Kang said, "The field experience gained from working as a forensic investigator and the signs of criminal behavior learned while studying criminology helped us in the arrest of criminals."
