The government has entered a procedure to redeem 11 parcels of land owned by the descendants of four pro-Japanese actors, including Lee Gyu-won, Lee Ki-yong, Hong Seung-mok, and Lee Hae-seung, to the national treasury.



The Ministry of Justice announced today (1st) that it has filed a lawsuit for the registration of the transfer of ownership and the return of unfair profits in order to return the land to the state.



The land is 11 parcels including Hongeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and the total area is 85,000m2 (25,740 pyeong), and the value of the land is 2,675.22 million won based on the publicly announced land price.



Gyu-won Lee received the title of self-jak (子爵) from the Japanese government and the memorial for the Korean merger, and served as the promoter and director of the'Chosun Immigration Service Bureau', and the promoter of the '10 Contribution Campaign for the Conscription Ordinance Implementation Audit Committee'.



Lee Ki-yong was the last son of the Joseon Dynasty, and after the signing of the Korea-Japan Consolidation Treaty in October 1910, he received his own title from the Japanese government.In 1945, he worked as a member of the nobleman of the Japanese Imperial Parliament with Park Sang-jun, Yun Chi-ho, and Park Jung-yang.



Hong Seung-mok was a bureaucrat in the late Joseon Dynasty and served as the central government of the Joseon Dynasty during the Japanese occupation.

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, discovered land suspected of being pro-Japanese property during the park development project in October 2019, and requested the Ministry of Justice to review whether it is subject to national vesting.



According to the'Special Act on the Attribution of Property of Pro-General Actors to the State', property acquired by pro-Japanese actors in exchange for cooperation in Japanese colonial rule from the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War in February 1904, when the invasion of national power began, until liberation, belongs to the state.



The Ministry of Justice, through data investigation and jurisprudence review, has entered the national detention process for 11 lots with evidence as the subject of redemption out of the total of 66 lot of requested land.



The Ministry of Justice is planning to file a lawsuit after securing additional evidence for the remaining 55 sites in addition to the 11 sites that filed the lawsuit.



The Ministry of Justice said, "In July 2010, it took over the redemption lawsuit from the Pro-general Affiliate Property Investigation Committee and filed 19 lawsuits so far, winning 17 cases and redeeming land worth 26 billion won." "I will implement the constitutional ideology and historical justice of the 1st Movement."
