Nearly one in two French people (48%) buy online using their smartphone.

This is what reveals an OpinionWay study carried out on 1,001 adults in the month of January, relayed by

Le Parisien

.

24% of online smartphone purchases are made in a room, 18% in public transport, 15% in the car, 14% at work or 13% in the toilet.

According to this study, Amazon, Decathlon and Jeff de Bruges are the three e-commerce sites offering “the best shopping experience” on smartphones.

“Previously, the conversion rate was quite low on mobile, which was mainly a consultation tool.

Now it is also a transaction tool, ”analyzed Eric Voltzenlogel, from Proximis, a player in unified commerce.

Used to prepare for future purchases

The smartphone also makes it possible to support consumers in their purchases, specifies the Paris daily.

It can be about locating a point of sale (31%) or its opening hours (30%) but also looking for information on a product (20%), taking a picture (41%) and comparing price (40%).

Consumers are 48% to use it as a support for loyalty cards.

However, despite a booming number of smartphone transactions, 75% of those surveyed still said they prefer their computer for shopping online.

Finally, only 25% of French people said they bought things on e-commerce sites via their tablet.
