Thursday, in the Bas-Rhin, an 88-year-old man was flashed at 191 km / h.

In front of the gendarmes, he justified himself by invoking a vaccination appointment against the Covid-19 for which he was late.

If he was able to get vaccinated, his vehicle was immobilized.

It is with a strange justification that these gendarmes from the Bas-Rhin were opposed.

Thursday, when they had just flashed the car of an octogenarian at 191 km / h instead of the 110 authorized, the driver explained to them that he was late for his appointment ... of vaccination against the Covid-19 .

"They ask him for his papers and realize that this gentleman is already 88 years old. It's a first surprise. Second surprise, they ask him the reason for this excess to try to understand. And there, the gentleman indicates that it is is to go take his Covid vaccine ", tells Europe 1 Eric Lemoine, deputy commander of the departmental road safety squadron of Bas-Rhin.

"He explains to them that he was late and that to make up for this delay, to be absolutely vaccinated, he allowed himself to accelerate on this departmental route," he continues.

His vehicle has been immobilized

Ultimately, the octogenarian a little too in a hurry could well have made his vaccine, assures the deputy commander.

But, he says, "he was taken care of by someone else, since his vehicle was obviously immobilized".

His driver's license was also withheld.
