Apple wants to put an end to the external battery enclosed in a shell.

The American giant would rather be developing a magnetic external battery that works with the iPhone 12.

This battery would connect to the smartphone by means of MagSafe magnets, according to information from

Bloomberg

Apple introduced this magnet at the same time as its new iPhone 12. It is an optional accessory that allows wireless charging, by placing the element on the back of the magnetic device.

Reliability issues

The beta version of iOS 14.5 gives clues about this future external battery.

A certain "Battery Pack" supposed to maintain the iPhone battery at 90% is mentioned there.

But the product's release could be delayed, as Apple encountered reliability issues during its design, according to Bloomberg.

An overheating of this external battery would be mentioned in a misleading way by iOS.

The American giant prefers to understand the origin of this alert and resolve the problem before the Battery Pack is marketed.
