In Montfort-sur-Meu, in Ille-et-Vilaine, the authorities continue to search for Magali Blandin, a 42-year-old mother who has not given a trace of life for nine days.

While a judicial investigation will be opened on Monday, the investigation reveals a tense family context.

Her disappearance was reported on Friday February 12 when she should have picked up her children from school in Montfort-sur-Meu, in Ille-et-Vilaine.

For more than a week, Magali Blandin, 42, mother of four children, has not been found.

Faced with many questions that still remain unanswered, the Rennes prosecutor's office has decided to open, from Monday, a judicial investigation.

On Friday, no less than 200 volunteers and gendarmes took part in search operations to try to find her.

If the investigation does not rule out any leads, it revealed strong marital tensions.

Domestic violence investigation dismissed

It had been barely six months since Magali Blandin had left her spouse.

In the process, she had filed a complaint for domestic violence.

Her husband had been taken into custody, but the investigation was closed in early September.

In the couple, tensions remained strong, whether over money or child custody, which was to be settled by a family judge on March 8, 2021.

"This context, naturally, justified the very important means which were implemented from the start", explains to Europe 1 Sébastien Jaudon, the commander of the gendarmerie group of Ille-et-Vilaine.

"There is a context of domestic violence, in Magali's recent past, with a complaint lodged in this direction. This is why throughout the week, we have deployed means which are objectively very important, even exceptional", he continues.

According to the Rennes public prosecutor, verifications were made with the husband, but they did not reveal any element in the state associating him with this disappearance.

Willful or criminal disappearance?

Suicide or accident?

No track is privileged.

About twenty gendarmes are still mobilized this weekend, assisted by a helicopter to fly over the area.
