From 2025, when the 6th grader of elementary school becomes the first grader of high school this year, the high school credit system will be fully introduced in high school as well as students who choose the subject they want.

Deputy Prime Minister Yoo Eun-hye and Minister of Education announced the'Comprehensive High School Credit System Implementation Plan' containing these details.

When the new system is implemented, students can take classes according to their individual timetables instead of the school schedules, and in general high schools, they can take advanced/specialized courses at the level of specialized high schools, and vocational courses.

In addition, subjects that are not offered at the school they attend can be taken through an online/offline joint curriculum with other schools, and outside experts as well as regular teachers can teach students directly.

Students must take 192 credits during high school to graduate. Students must meet at least two-thirds of the attendance rate for each subject and at least 40% of the academic achievement rate.

If you receive a grade with an achievement rate of less than 40%, the subject will be treated as uncompleted, and credits will be earned through separate assignments or supplementary classes.

The Ministry of Education plans to reinforce training to increase the capacity of teachers so that students can set their own study plans, and introduce'career inquiry activities' to creative experiences, which are comparative courses.

In response, the Korean Federation of Teachers, a teacher organization, emphasized that measures should be taken, saying that there are concerns about the gap between the supply and demand of teachers, the gap in learning, and the discrimination power of the achievement evaluation system.
