Through a briefing today (15th), the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced that it will be vaccinated from the age of 65 with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which starts on the 26th.

Accordingly, only those who are under the age of 65 among residents and workers in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities that are eligible for vaccination will start vaccination from the 26th.

The government estimates that there are 270,000 people.

For the elderly over the age of 65, it has been announced that after confirming additional clinical information on the efficacy of the vaccine, it will be deliberated by the Vaccination Committee to determine the timing of vaccination.

The government said that AstraZeneca's safety and immunogenicity are clear, but the controversy about its efficacy in the elderly over the age of 65 may lower the vaccination rate of the public and medical personnel.

Meanwhile, the Pfizer vaccine, which will be introduced at the end of this month or early March through COVAX, will start vaccination for 55,000 medical staff who treat corona patients as planned.

More than 350,000 workers in high-risk medical institutions such as general hospitals, and 78,000 first responders such as Corona 19 quarantine agents and epidemiological investigators will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine from March.
