The untimely sale of TikTok to quell US accusations of spying on behalf of China appears to have been put on hold with the change of administration.

If Donald Trump regularly targeted the application owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, the new president of the United States, Joe Biden does not seem as eager as his predecessor to settle this transaction.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Biden administration is keen to explore other options to ensure the security of US user data.

The American media affirms that the American national security officials spoke with ByteDance to discuss this subject.

The objective of this discussion was, again according to the Wall Street Journal, to ensure the protection of the data of American users, but especially the impossibility for the Chinese government to have access to it.

In expectation

“We plan to develop a comprehensive approach to securing US data that addresses all of the threats we face.

This includes the risk posed by Chinese applications and other software that work in the United States.

In the coming months, we plan to examine specific cases in the light of a comprehensive understanding of the risks we face, ”said Emily Horne, spokesperson for the National Security Council.

It is difficult to know if TikTok could finally be sold to satisfy the American authorities, but it seems that the application still has a few months of respite.
