In few Spanish cities is the culture of tapas so deeply rooted as in Granada.

In the capital of La Alhambra, people go out for a few beers at aperitif time and come home with lunch and, if they hurry me, almost dinner.

Since 2001, when the first of the four stores that it has today opened in the heart of the city,

D'Platos

has been part of that tapas route.

With the passage of time, and determined to "export" Granada, its owners tried their luck with a branch in Malaga and in the middle of Christmas they landed in Madrid, in the heart of Chamberí, adding the "surname" Delight to their name.

The ambitious

D'Platos Deleite

project

is located at number 4 Eloy Gonzalo Street and is distributed over 250 square meters in what

has not been spared in decoration

, from the marble tables to the designer chairs and a spectacular kitchen view.

With uninterrupted hours from breakfast to dinner (for now ... when the pandemic passes, there will also be nightly cocktails), it is included in the category of seeing and being seen with certain gastronomic ambitions.

Guacamole and smoked sardine tostita.

The concept is a little different from what the Madrid public is used to: here

the tapas do not accompany the drink

(pay attention to the Alhambra natural beer on tap, without CO2 additives) but

are ordered separately and paid at 1.90 euros each one

.

You can choose between fifteen of them and with three is more than enough for a light lunch.

Among the most notable, guacamole and smoked sardine tostita;

Serranito

D'Platos

with tenderloin, green pepper and Serrano ham;

chicken breast on a skewer with a special sauce with oak aroma;

Cooked croquettes or fried fish cone.

Artichoke hearts confit with tamarillo.

Then there are the gourmet tapas, which would come to be what in the capital are called rations, whose prices are no longer fixed and are designed to share.

Artichoke hearts confit with tamarillo (12.90 euros), oxtail croquettes (3 euros each), burrata salad, duck ham, walnuts and dried tomato vinaigrette (12.90 euros) or steamed bath stuffed with chicken Mechado con pico de gallo seasoned (8.90 / 2 units) are some of the options.

Finally, for those who want to eat in the traditional style, a

menu of dishes that responds to the millimeter to current trends

in this type of establishment: grilled goat cheese medallions, fried eggplant sticks, various hamburgers, tuna tartare or tataki salmon.

Dessert box.

Very funny the approach of the desserts.

There is no menu, but a box full of containers is placed on the table, each one with a different proposal, from carrot cake with cheese frosting to tiramisù, passing through black forest cake.

They look at each other carefully, they think about the consequences and there are two options, assume them and go for the one that tempts the most or let them be, in which case they are withdrawn and ready.
