E3 2021 will take place, but only online -

With more than 66,000 visitors expected during the 2020 edition, the organizers of E3 had been forced to cancel the event due to the pandemic.

The Entertainment Software Association was indeed unable to ensure the health security of video game professionals, journalists and bloggers, as well as ordinary visitors.

Video game publishers and developers had therefore opted for individual online events to present their novelties.

But good news for fans, E3 should indeed take place, but in a new form.

According to information from Video Games Chronicle, the show will indeed take place, but the 2021 edition of E3 will be done online only.

Information to be taken with a grain of salt for now, although ESA has confirmed to The Verge that the E3 2021 experience will be transformed.

It's hard to imagine another format for an event of this magnitude, especially given the circumstances.

At present, the coronavirus pandemic is still far from being eradicated.

Events bringing together thousands of people are therefore not yet on the agenda, which is why the E3 organizers would opt instead for a digital format of the show.

It would be an opportunity for the latter to reinvent himself.

Apart from the health crisis, E3 had lost some of its splendor for several years.

Some publishers and developers also preferred to do their conference on their own, outside the show.

This was notably the case with Sony, two years in a row.

By offering a digital version, E3 could again appeal to professionals and the general public, while convincing new followers.

It remains to be seen if this digital version will take place.

The show is in any case scheduled for June 15 to 17.
