The new version of Edge browser based on Chromium has been available since January 15th.

With this arrival, Microsoft has announced that the old version of the browser will no longer be available from next spring, reports

.

The change will come with the Windows 10 update scheduled for April 13, according to a blog post on Microsoft's site.

From this moment, it will necessarily be the new version of Edge that will be installed on machines with the Windows 10 operating system.

Several versions of Windows 10 affected

This withdrawal had already been announced upstream.

As of August 2020, Windows had indicated that the old version of Edge would no longer receive any support as of March 9, 2021. This meant that Windows would no longer provide any security updates to users.

From the April patch, the old version of Edge will therefore disappear in favor of the brand new one.

In detail, the removal concerns versions 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909 and 2004 of Windows 10. In this case, the new version of Edge will be installed.

In the case of Windows 10 version 20H2 released last October, the new browser was already included in the patch.
