Former Minister of Industry, Baek Woon-gyu, who had requested a pre-arrest warrant, came to the court today (8th) and received a warrant review.

Former Minister Baek argued that the early closure of the Wolseong nuclear power plant was a state affair and that it followed due process.

Whether or not to be arrested will be decided soon.

This is Bae Jun-woo.

"The President asked when he was planning to decide to suspend the operation of Unit 1 of Wolsong."

In early April 2018, this statement that an official from the Ministry of Industry heard from the Blue House administrator started the case.

Then the Ministry of Industry started to get busy.

We decided to immediately stop Wolsong Unit 1, which had been in operation for another 2 years and 6 months, and the accounting firm's evaluation of the nuclear power plant's economic feasibility will change.

Eventually, Wolseong Unit 1 will be closed early two months after the Blue House remarks were delivered.

As the auditor questioned this process, officials from the Ministry of Industry secretly deleted 530 data, further amplifying the suspicion.

The prosecution believes that the person who led this process was the then Minister of Industry, Baek Un-gyu.

The prosecution is investigating whether the policy direction has gone through a due process, not right or wrong.

Former Minister Baek is protesting that it was a legitimate policy decision.

And today, he repeatedly emphasized his arguments even when he appeared in the actual warrant examination.

[Paek Woon-kyu/Former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy: The early closure of Wolseong Unit 1 was a national task that put public safety first.

When I was in office, I handled business in a due process based on laws and principles.]

Whether or not for the arrest of former Minister Baek is the watershed of this investigation.

This is because when a warrant is issued, the next investigation will naturally be directed to the Blue House.

Korea Gas Corporation President Chae Hee-bong, who was the industrial policy secretary under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry, is being investigated by the prosecution.

Conversely, if it is dismissed, the power of the investigation will inevitably weaken.

This is because the allegation of former Minister Baek also means that the vocation is insufficient, and the accusation of the passport for an unreasonable investigation will be more intense.
