A former professional soccer player Moo Do was arrested in court for tricking a promising football parent to join his son to the European professional football team and intercepting a large sum.

The Incheon District Court said that Mr. Do was sentenced to a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison and was imprisoned in court.

In March 2017, Mr. Do was handed over to trial on charges of intercepting him with 60 million won in the name of joining the Croatian soccer team by tricking Mr. A, the father of a high school soccer player, to put his son into the Croatian soccer team.

In addition, he was charged with receiving 15 million won from Mr. A as a success reward, saying, "My son joined the Serbian professional football team with a two-year contract for a total of 100 million won per year."

Mr. A's son, deceived by Mr. Do, quit school and left for Croatia in May 2017, but returned to Korea after a month after buying rice at private expense without any support.

The court judged that the guilt of Do, who intercepted him with 79 million won from his father as a bait for his dream of a football prospect, was quite bad.

In addition, the son of Mr. A, who quit the football player, seems to be suffering mental pain to this day, but Mr. Do said he did not show reflection and needed severe punishment.

Do, who joined Busan ICONS in 2003 and transferred to Incheon United ahead of the 2009 season, retired after it was revealed that he had been involved in the game manipulation in 2011.
